28:9 wa qaalatimra-atu fir'Awna qur-ratu 'Aynil liy wa lak* laa taqtuluuhu 'Asaa ay yanfa'Anaa aw nat-takhidhahuu waladaw wa hum laa yash'Uruun
Ahmed Raza Khan: Mohammed Aqib Qadri:
And Firaun's wife said, "This child is the
comfort of my eyes and yours *; do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit
us, or we may adopt him as our son" - and they were unaware. (Had Firaun
also said the same, Allah would have granted him faith.)
Yusuf Ali:
The wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) joy of the eye, for me and for thee: slay him not. It may be that he will be use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)!
Pickthal:
And the wife of Pharaoh said: (He will be) a consolation for me and for thee. Kill him not. Peradventure he may be of use to us, or we may choose him for a son. And they perceived not.
